How to calculate the volume of epoxy resin required?

Enter the dimensions of your table (length and width for rectangular, diameter for circular) and the desired epoxy thickness. Our calculator will then provide you with the required volume of epoxy.

How to calculate the epoxy resin volume?

Here's how to calculate the amount of epoxy needed for a rectangular and circle table top.

Calculate the Rectangular Area:

The rectangular area of a table can be calculated using the following formula:

Area of Rectangle=Length×Width\text{Area of Rectangle} = \text{Length} \times \text{Width}

Epoxy Volume Calculation: Multiply the calculated area by the desired epoxy depth:

Volume = Area of Rectangle x Epoxy Thickness

This gives you the total volume of epoxy needed to cover the entire table top surface.

Example:

Length: 48 inches
Width: 36 inches
Desired Depth: 0.25 inches

Area: Area = 48 inches x 36 inches = 1728 square inches
Volume: Volume = 1728 sq in x 0.25 in = 432 cubic inches

You can convert it to a more common unit for epoxy, such as gallons.

To calculate in gallon volume divided by 231.

432 cubic inches / 231 = 1.8701 Gallons.

Calculate the Surface Area:

Let's take a table with a diameter of 48 inches and desired epoxy depth of 0.25 inches as an example. We'll calculate the total epoxy needed, assuming you only want to cover the table top (not the edges).

Since it's a circular table, we'll use the formula for the area of a circle:

Area=π(radius2)

First, find the radius by dividing the diameter by 2:

Radius = Diameter / 2

Radius = 48 inches / 2

Radius = 24 inches.

Now calculate the surface area: Area = 3.14159 (24 inches²) ≈ 1809.55 square inches (We can use the value of pi provided, or a rounded value like 3.14 for simplicity).

Multiply the surface area by the desired epoxy depth:

Volume = Area x Epoxy Thickness

Volume = 1809.55 sq in x 0.25 in

Volume = 452.38936 cubic inches.

The volume in cubic inches might not be the most user-friendly format. You can convert it to a more common unit for epoxy, such as gallons.

To calculate in gallon volume divided by 231.

452.38936 / 231 = 1.9584 Gallons.
