Formula for Calculating Wall Area

The wall area formula is simple: you multiply the height of the wall by its width. If you have multiple walls, you can calculate each one individually and add them together to get the total area.

Wall Area Formula:

Wall Area=Height×Width\text{Wall Area} = \text{Height} \times \text{Width}

If you have multiple walls, say n walls, then the total wall area formula becomes:

Total Wall Area=i=1n(Heighti×Widthi)\text{Total Wall Area} = \sum_{i=1}^{n} (\text{Height}_i \times \text{Width}_i)

Example Calculation

Let’s calculate the wall area for a rectangular room with four walls. Here’s what we’ll assume:

  • Height of the room = 8 feet
  • Width of Wall 1 and Wall 3 = 12 feet
  • Width of Wall 2 and Wall 4 = 15 feet

To calculate the area of each wall:

Area of Wall 1 = 8 ft×12 ft = 96 sq ft

Area of Wall 2 = 8 ft×15 ft=120 sq ft

Area of Wall 3 = 8 ft×12 ft=96 sq ft

Area of Wall 4 = 8 ft×15 ft=120 sq ft

Then, add them together:

Total Wall Area=96+120+96+120=432sq ft\text{Total Wall Area} = 96 + 120 + 96 + 120 = 432 \, \text{sq ft}
